Fonterra director Michael Spaans has stepped down from the Fonterra board, citing ill health. Spaans is also chairman of industry-good body DairyNZ, but he has not yet notified them of his position, and a director of the ASB. Fonterra chairman John Wilson said that Spaans' contribution to the New Zealand dairy industry had been significant both inside and outside the Fonterra boardroom. Fonterra said that it has agreed with Spaans that, when he is given a clean bill of health, he should consider standing again for the Fonterra board.
