Michael Odhiambo Oyier has been laid to rest in a private ceremony Friday May 3. Mourners gathered in Homabay, where they said their final prayers and allowed to view his body, before the close family retreated to lay him to rest. A tribute was delivered on behalf of ODM Party leader Raila Odinga by Hassan Joho. Speaking on behalf of Odinga, Joho said "He said I tell the family pole sana, and that he recognized Michael as a Shujaa of the nation. Oyier died on Sunday, April 21, at a Nairobi hospital following what the family said was a stroke.
