Michael and Eileen McDaid were married in 1974Michael McDaid was a loyal friend, popular colleague, an award-winning educator, but above all else a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Michael married the love of his life, Eileen Best from Ballymena, in 1974 and they were blessed with four children, Colin, Damien, Clare and Meghan. Michael and Eileen McDaid were married in 1974Their home became the centre of large and happy family gatherings. As Fr Sean O’Donnell said in his Requiem Mass at a packed St Eugene’s Cathedral, Michael lived his faith. Michael McDaid – affectionately known as Big Mickey to his numerous friends – passed away peacefully at home on March 10 in the loving care of his family.
