Independent TD Michael Fitzmaurice is to join the new political party, Independent Ireland. Now their ranks have been boosted by the Independent TD for Rosommon - Galway, Michael Fitzmaurice. In recent years Mr Fitzmaurice had suggested there was a real need for a political party to represent rural Ireland. "Independent Ireland will be contesting upcoming elections with detailed election manifestos," he added. In a statement, Mr O'Donoghue said the party was delighted that Mr Fitzmaurice had joined Independent Ireland, as his experience and knowledge would be an invaluable asset in delivering real change and building a better future.
