Manchester United are set to announce Michael Carrick as the club's interim manager within the next 48 hours after talks progressed, Daily Mail Sport understands. The former player was in the city today finalising a deal which will see him take charge at Old Trafford for the remainder of the season, following the sacking of Ruben Amorim. Both Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer were spoken to by United officials after they parted company with Amorim. 'Out of cups, only Premier League games to play for, the fans weren't happy at the end but they have got every right to air their grievances. United, who currently sit seventh in the Premier League, but are just three points off Liverpool in fourth, return to action when they host arch-rivals Man City next Saturday.
