WorldMEXICO CITY, AFP -Mexico's government unveiled Wednesday a program to protect immigrants in the United States from any “abuses” after Donald Trump won the US election on a promise to deport millions. The government will activate a free 1-800 hotline, open 24 hours per day, “to deal with any doubts about immigration measures or report incidents,” deploy more mobile “consulates on wheels” and increase appointments for passports. Trump said in an interview with CBS television's “60 Minutes” program that as many as three million undocumented immigrants with criminal records would be deported or incarcerated. The United States has an estimated 11-12 million undocumented migrants, mostly of Mexican origin. The Republican billionaire infuriated Mexicans by calling migrants from their country “rapists” and drug runners when he launched his campaign last year.
