Mexican security forces captured a son of jailed drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman on Thursday, scoring a high-profile victory in the fight against powerful cartels days before US President Joe Biden‘s visit. The 32-year-old man, nicknamed “El Raton”, would have helped run his father’s drug trafficking operations since El Chapo was extradited to the United States in 2017. “El Chapo” is serving a life sentence in the United States for trafficking hundreds of tons of drugs into the United States over the course of 25 years. The Sinaloa state government urged people to stay home Thursday after the latest arrest. Among the fugitives was Ernesto Alfredo Pinon, known as “El Neto,” the leader of a gang allied with the Juárez drug cartel.
