MILWAUKEE — The Mets signed Jason Vargas, a veteran starting pitcher, to a two-year, $16 million contract before the season to help stabilize their oft-injured rotation. Ramos, an experienced relief pitcher who is owed $9.2 million this season, to strengthen the back of the bullpen. It showed, again, in Saturday’s miserable loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in which the Mets did little right and allowed season highs in runs (17) and hits (19). “Everybody has bad games,” Mets Manager Mickey Callaway said. Vargas, 35, has made five starts this season and allowed at least four runs in all but one.
