The New York Mets announced on Thursday their complete coaching staff under manager Buck Showalter. The move pushes Sherlock from the bench coach to the catching and strategy coach. The Mets made the move in reaction to multiple teams showing interest in Barnes becoming their primary hitting coach. Hinske worked with GM Billy Eppler in 2018, serving as the hitting coach for the Los Angeles Angels. Chiti spent the past two seasons with the Los Angeles Angels as their bullpen coach and Hinkse was the Arizona Diamondbacks assistant hitting coach in 2021.
