Metrolinx has been quietly sharing Presto information with police

Metrolinx doesn’t share other information collected through Presto such as a person’s email address, phone number, or financial details, she said. Experts interviewed by the Star said the practice raises serious concerns about Metrolinx’s policies around the protection of transit users’ personal information. Metrolinx has been quietly sharing Presto card users’ private travel records with the police, the Star has learned. Presto customers are not required to share their personal information with Metrolinx to use the card. However, in order to register their card, they must provide personal information that could include their name, address, phone number, email and payment information.
