The announcement was an 'important milestone' in delivering Ireland’s first metro system, Lorcan O’Connor, Transport Infrastructure Ireland chief executive, said. Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has begun the process of selecting bidders to tender for MetroLink contracts, with a maximum combined contract value of €7.9 billion. The announcement of the tenders was an “important milestone” in delivering Ireland’s first metro system, Lorcan O’Connor, TII chief executive said. The announcement comes as agreements were made recently to purchase a number of homes along the proposed MetroLink line. The new metro system will need about 8,000 workers to construct, an Oireachtas committee heard last year.
