METRO Manila mayors have recommended extending the general community quarantine (GCQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR) until the end of the year. The recommendation was made ahead of President Rodrigo Duterte’s announcement of the GCQ extension last Tuesday, Olivares said. A longer GCQ for Metro Manila was decided in lieu of an even more relaxed quarantine that was favored following signs that the Covid-19 situation in the region continued to improve. As of Wednesday, the coronavirus case count in Metro Manila stood at 184,275, according to the Department of Health’s (DoH) Covid-19 tracker. The national total of Covid-19 cases went up to 376,935 after 1,761 cases were added on Thursday.
