Metro General Manager Paul J. Wiedefeld announced the job cuts in a memo Monday but did not specify which jobs would be cut. “Assuming SafeTrack is just the start and [Metro Board chairman] Jack Evans and Paul Wiedefeld aren’t one-trick pony’s [sic] we should be in good shape. Speaking of job reductions, Chris Barnes announced that he was standing down as one of Metro’s fiercest watchdogs. “Our union shares General Manager Paul Weidefeld’s priorities of safety, reliability and financial responsibility. 500 jobs at Metro are on the chopping block, and the people slated to lose them don't know it yet.
