The bomb squad disposed of this meter long live naval shell after it was found at a Te Puke address. Four Bay of Plenty homes were evacuated and the New Zealand Defence Force bomb squad called after contractors unearthed a metre-long high-explosive naval shell. The contractors were carrying out demolition work at a Te Puke address when the live shell was found on Tuesday. Police were contacted, and officers called in the bomb squad from Auckland. Police evacuated four houses and the squad took the shell away for destruction.
