First, Parks Canada raised a concern that certain high-profile landmarks or “iconic images” would be readily identifiable in the film, including Lake Louise. “We said, ‘yes.’ And they said that is very much a concern of the national parks. In a statement late Thursday, Parks Canada said “for too long” the stories of Canada’s indigenous people have been ignored or misrepresented. “Parks Canada works to present indigenous stories in a respectful way that is consistent with reconciliation. “All of the above mentioned factors were taken into consideration by Parks Canada in the decision making process.”Production team members say they were completely open to resolving any environmental concerns, but Parks Canada nixed the project before they had a chance to do so.
