MetLife Says Pension Shortfall Will Prompt Financial Revisions


MetLife Inc. disclosed for the first time the scale of a records mistake that left possibly tens of thousands of workers without their monthly pension benefits. The company said it expects to increase its reserves by $525 million to $575 million on a pretax basis to account for the problem, a major black eye for the nation’s second-largest life insurer by assets.
