The weather is said to be making a turn for the worse this week where temperatures could drop as low as -5C in some areas, the Met Office warns. Rain, sleet and hail showers are expected "potentially quite widely", the Met Office says, while snow is "likely over higher ground in the north". "Most places remain dry with sunny spells on Thursday, although cloud and rain pushes into Northern Ireland and western parts later on," the Met Office adds.
