Wednesday, 8 April, is expected to be the warmest day, with mercury potentially climbing to as high as 26C across central and south-east England, according to the forecaster. Temperatures will begin to ease on Friday, with London reaching a maximum of 14C at 4pm and Peterborough and Reading hitting 13C. Met Office chief forecaster Paul Gundersen said: "We're seeing a brief but notable spell of very warm weather for early April, with temperatures more typically associated with late spring or early summer. "However, this warmth will be short-lived, with a marked drop in temperatures and more unsettled conditions developing later this week. Elsewhere, a fine day with plenty of sunshine and feeling very warm in places, especially across the south and east."
