The Met Office warns the worst is still to come, with even stronger winds forecast from 12pm on Friday until 6pm on Saturday. In Devon and Cornwall, families by the seaside were getting sandbags ready this morning after the Met Office warned there could be flooding. 'It's possible that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities could be affected by spray and large waves' the Met Office said. Essex Police are warning motorists to 'expect long delays' with no sign of the gales subsiding - in fact they could get worse. A yellow weather warning is in place until at least noon today as winds of 70mph-plus wreak havoc.
