Meru health workers have started a go slow to force Governor Kiraitu Murungi's administration to pay them two months delayed salaries. They threatened to paralyse health services in the county if they will not have been paid in the next seven days. The letter was written by Nesbit Mugendi of Kenya National Union of Nurses, Irura Elius of the Kenya Union of Pharmaceutical Technologists, Timothy Muriuki of Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists union and Moses Baiyenia of Kenya National Union of Clinical Officers. The workers said they will work in shifts and that no health worker will travel distances to attend to patients but would attend the facility near them. In July, the health workers accused Governor Murungi's administration of high-handedness in handling promotions and provision of personal protective equipment.
