Meredith woman struck while crossing Main Street Saturday night

MEREDITH — A 35-year-old Meredith resident is recovering from injuries sustained Saturday night while crossing Main Street near its intersection with Plymouth Street. According to witnesses, the woman attempted to cross Main Street in front of an oncoming 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, which struck her. They found the woman near the northbound shoulder of the highway, with serious injuries. The ambulance transported her to Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, and she later was transported to another facility, which police did not identify. Police said the accident did not occur at a crosswalk, and the 18-year-old driver, who also was a Meredith resident, had remained at the scene and cooperated with the ongoing investigation.
