Mercedes have completed their investigation into how they allowed Lewis Hamilton to throw away victory at the Australian Grand Prix, blaming an offline tool used to calculate delta lap times. 'The issue isn’t really with the race strategy software that we use,' Shovin said. 'We were still following a fuel profile that meant we were having to do some saving of fuel. 'We were being a bit cautious with the tyres and because the team thought that we were safe anyway we thought that Sebastian was going to drop behind us. So there are elements that we can do better with calculating that, but we have also looked at it for the future.
