IN THE PANDEMIC’S early months, jeans appeared to be down for the count. Stretch-waisted loungewear became the daily uniform for many Americans who were suddenly fielding Zoom calls from home. Unsurprisingly, there was a marked uptick in sales in the men’s sweatpants and loungewear categories as we all sheltered in place. Meanwhile, jeans sales tumbled. Levi’s revenue dropped 62% in the quarter that ended on May 24 compared with the year before.
