According to a report by The Register, major security flaws in Intel chipsets allow low-privilege processes and sketchy code to access memory in a computer's kernel. Now new information has come to light that claims that these vulnerabilities are not limited to Intel chipsets sold in the past decade as was previously thought. It must be noted that contrary to previous reports, this is not an issue limited to Intel chipsets but a problem that affects almost all processors on the market currently. While 'Meltdown' is an Intel specific vulnerability, Spectre targets a fundamental flaw in most CPU's. Hackers and cybercriminals can access a computer's protected (and theoretically inaccessible) system memory by using malicious codes on speculative execution.
