First lady Melania Trump is recovering from surgery she had on Monday to treat a “benign kidney condition,” her office announced. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week. The first lady’s surgery was announced the same morning that the family of Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said he had also undergone surgery. His doctors at the John Hopkins Cancer Center removed a tumor from his pancreas on Monday. The tumor was detected in a routine screening, and he will begin chemotherapy treatments after recovering from his surgery.
