Ten language planning officers have been appointed countrywide in recent months, and one of them has an unusual background. Dr Victor Bayda is originally from Moscow and while he, of course, speaks Russian, he also has a grá for Gaeilge. Dr Victor Bayda. He even has a PhD in it, having written a thesis on aspects of the Irish language. He has now been appointed as the Irish language planning officer for the south Kerry Gaeltacht area.
