Meet a Muslim campaign stops off in Timaru

The True Islam NZ Meet a Muslim campaign stopped in Timaru on Monday, from left, Harris Ahmed, Rafay Basharat and Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Imam Mustenser Qamar. A woman who heard deadly gunshots during the Christchurch mosque terror attack wanted to meet visiting Muslims when they visited Timaru exactly two years later. She was keen to meet Ahmadiyya Muslim Community Imams (leaders) Sabah Al-Zafar and Mustenser Qamar, travelling the country’s cities, along with a few young Muslims, in the True Islam NZ Meet a Muslim campaign to create understanding of their religion, when they stopped in Timaru on Monday. The Meet a Muslim campaign's Timaru visit, at Coffee Culture on Monday, exactly two years since the attack, aimed to change inaccurate perspectives and misunderstandings of Islam and Muslims. The True Islam NZ campaign started in Queenstown on Saturday and finishes on April 3.
