Medical student drowns in swimming pool at KenolA swimming expedition turned tragic after a medical student drowned at a hotel's swimming pool in Murang’a South. Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) student Joseph Mbugua drowned in a swimming at Kenol market, while in a company of his three colleagues from the Thika campus. The 21-year-old and a third year student was on a swimming expedition when he allegedly drowned at Golden Palm Hotel swimming pool. Murang’a South District Criminal Investigation Officer Mr David Cheruiyot said his colleagues alerted the authorities of the incident. We are yet to understand how he drowned in a small swimming pool yet he knows how to swim,” said Gathemba.
