Medical experts urged to volunteer in humanitarian projects - Nation

KUALA LUMPUR: The government is encouraging medical experts to volunteer in humanitarian projects locally and overseas. The three-day conference, themed “Healthcare Beyond Medicine”, was attended by about 1,000 medical experts from 12 countries including the US, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Britain and Nepal. It is aimed at inspiring more healthcare workers to deliver humanistic healthcare services to the patients. Tima is a body under Tzu Chi, a Buddhist charity organisation founded in Taiwan by Master Cheng Yen. Today, it has several hundred members who serve as volunteers to provide medical care and support to the needy, especially those from remote areas nationwide.
