Foxton woman Beth Cross, 71, died after a tear in her heart's aorta, known as an aortic dissection. Despite this, the inquest heard it was unlikely Cross' aortic dissection could have been picked up on the scan, regardless of more people inspecting it. From the evidence presented by the cardiologists, it was clear an aortic dissection was hard to diagnose, Mundell's lawyer Sean O'Sullivan said.
