Medical aspirants left hassled

Chand, 49, wasn’t at the hospital for his daughter’s treatment but to get her documents verified. The state health department recently directed all medical aspirants who have cleared the NEET to register themselves by paying Rs 2,000 and get their documents verified at three Calcutta hospitals. The verification at Medical College, SSKM and RG Kar started today and will continue till Saturday. Candidates who have had their documents verified will be eligible for counselling if their names feature on the merit list. It would have taken a long time to train officials at medical colleges across the state how to go about the verification,” Debasis Bhattacharya of the directorate of medical education, Bengal, said.
