The BuzzFeed case of errant reporting was just the latest “smoking gun” story supposedly showing wrongdoing by the president. The contrast in the coverage with the Barr and BuzzFeed stories is telling and is another black mark against the media and Trump critics. The BuzzFeed coverage shows the double standard that is being applied to people like Barr. Barr also expressly stated that if a president encouraged anyone to lie to Congress, it would be a federal crime. In the meantime, both members of Congress and the media might want to reconsider their attacks against the Barr memorandum following the feeding frenzy surrounding the BuzzFeed article.
