If the first four months of 2018 are any indication, media disruption will not be slowing down but accelerating. At the end of first quarter 2018, Netflix continued to grow, reaching 55 million streaming video subscribers in the U.S. As streaming video subscribers grow, the number of pay-TV subscribers appears to be in a freefall. In first quarter 2018, Charter lost 122,000 video subscribers, Comcast lost 96,000 video subscribers and AT&T/DirecTV lost 187,000 video subscribers. If the first four months of 2018 are any indication, the disruption in media is not going away any time soon.
