JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested an 18-year-old mechanic in Kedah for posting insulting remarks against the Johor Ruler, Johor Crown Prince and the Johor Royal institution on Facebook. Johor police chief Comm Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said police received information about the matter on Thursday at around 2.51pm and an investigation paper was opened for further action. Police from the Kulim district headquarters later detained the suspect at the Padang Serai area at 6pm on Friday. "The case is being investigated under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," said Comm Wan Ahmad in a statement Friday. He also advised members of the public to not use the social media as a platform to spread offensive statement that could cause annoyance to the people.
