Former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos was always known for her lavish parties, but on Wednesday her 90th birthday bash took a particularly dramatic turn. In a statement, Imelda’s son Ferdinand Jr. said the organizers were getting to the bottom of the issue. Former Philippine dictator Ferdinand Marcos and his family were found to have pilfered up to $10 billion from government funds during his rule. After growing frustration with corruption and human rights violations under Marcos’ rule, the family was ousted in the 1986 People Power Revolution. Her daughter Imee won a senatorial bid during the midterm elections in May, while her son Ferdinand Jr. is still pushing an electoral protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.
