All educational fixes face the same problem—how do you measure success? Like tofu, one slice is the same as any other slice, and all we need to do is measure the quantity. If a teacher usually hands out one slice of edu-tofu per day, it's easy to figure out both the rate and amount of tofu involved. But education is not tofu, and quantitative measurements don't really make sense. Who has learned more-- a 10 year old who learned to play the trumpet, or a 16 year old who learned to work with quadratic equations?
