Voisin/The Washington Post)The mayor of District Heights has been charged with misconduct in office as prosecutors alleged that he leveraged his position to help a friend buy $50,000 worth of fireworks. A woman at the city manager’s office in District Heights on Friday said she was not aware of the matter and declined to comment further. Martin was elected mayor in 2018, according to a biography posted on the District Heights website. District Heights Vice Mayor Johnathan Medlock said he could not speak about the allegations against Martin and, for now, Martin remains the mayor.
