DUBAI, United Arab Emirates ( Associated Press) — Rory McIlroy watched his 15-foot birdie putt in the cup, clenched his fists and roared in celebration of a victory that turned out to be sweeter than most. McIlroy finished with a pair of birdies in the final round to card a 4-under 68 and beat Reid, who shot 65. “I had to focus on myself and not be aware of others.”McIlroy and Reid threw darts at each other on Wednesday after meeting on the practice field on Tuesday. McIlroy declined to congratulate Reid, who wanted to wish the Northern Irishman a happy New Year. Reed called it “unfortunate” that McIlroy did not shake his hand and called McIlroy “an immature kid”.
