McGuinty chief of staff served just one-quarter of four-month jail sentence behind bars

A former chief of staff to ex-premier Dalton McGuinty spent only a quarter of his four-month jail sentence behind bars for wiping computer hard drives in the wake of a previous Liberal government’s gas-plants scandal. David Livingston arrives for sentencing at Ontario court in Toronto on April 11, 2018. The chief of staff to former premier Dalton McGuinty was convicted of destroying emails related to the costly cancellation of two gas plants in 2011. He spent the afternoon in basement cells at Old City Hall before being released on his own recognizance pending an appeal. As recently as Monday, his lawyer told the Star the appeal had been delayed.
