McDonald's called on to drop hoki from menusJACKY NAEGELEN/REUTERS Media reports say McDonald's is coming under pressure from "campaigners" to remove New Zealand fish from its menu. The BBC reported campaigners had called on McDonald's to drop New Zealand fish from its menus..McDonald's said it sourced 8 per cent of its fish from New Zealand hoki. New Zealand hoki stocks had increased in size for the past eight years and were well within or above their management target range, he said. Fast food chain McDonald's will order an immediate audit of fisheries it sources New Zealand hoki from if environmental standards are not being met. If evaluations indicated a potential impact or change to the population of other marine species, an audit would immediately be requested to ensure the fishery meet MSC standards, McDonald's said.
