Visits to McDonald’s restaurants worldwide fell for three straight years to the end of 2015. This led Steve Easterbrook, its British-born chief executive, to launch a turnaround plan that focused on driving more customers into McDonald’s restaurants by offering cut-price deals, premium gourmet burgers and fresh rather than frozen beef in its quarter-pounders. First-quarter customer visits increased by 0.8 per cent, the fifth consecutive quarter of growth.
