McDonald’s Corp. MCD -0.38% is scheduled to announce its first-quarter earnings before the market opens Monday. SAME-STORE SALES AND REVENUE FORECAST: McDonald’s is expected to post a 3.7% increase in global same-store sales for the quarter, with a 2.9% increase in the U.S. Others say Wendy’s has been hurting McDonald’s burger sales with ads and tweets touting how Wendy’s has been serving fresh beef since the beginning. VALUE MEALS: McDonald’s in January launched a national value menu with items priced at $1, $2 and $3 each to better compete with rivals offering similar deals. Investors will be eager to hear McDonald’s management provide more detail on just how well the products are selling, as McDonald’s has struggled in the past to come up with a value menu that resonates with consumers.
