McCain heiress ordered to help pay her estranged husband’s legal fees in fight over $5M prenup payment

A McCain Foods heiress suffered another defeat in court after a judge ruled that she would have to pay for her estranged husband’s lawyers in their ongoing separation battle. “If (Melanson) had not travelled at all in 2016, in theory, he would have had $53,232.53 to pay for legal expenses,” she wrote. From the time that McCain filed for an annulment of their nine-month marriage in March, Melanson’s legal bills have soared past $200,000. “He was broke when he signed that contract and he’s broke now,” Niman said in court in late January. McCain “seeks to blacken my reputation and ruin me financially,” Melanson wrote in court documents.
