Eight second graders were recognized at the Beatrice City Council meeting on Monday evening as “Mayor for a Day.”The students were winners in the Keep Beatrice Beautiful Great American Cleanup Recycling Project. Paddock Lane; Kaidence Fairbanks from St. Joseph Catholic; and Sydney Agena from St. Paul’s Lutheran were recognized. Ashley Schnuelle Hawks, executive director of Keep Beatrice Beautiful, said the students exceeded her expectations. “They were really excited about that.”Mayor Bob Morgan said the city was thankful for the student’s efforts. Educational gifts were given to approximately 1,300 students for Earth Day.
