(Alan Youngblood/Star-Banner/AP)A central Florida mayor said he wanted his city to know that he didn’t think there was anything wrong with celebrating a “Confederate Memorial Day” later this month. Ocala City Councilwoman Mary Rich is speaking out. She was not happy that the mayor presented a proclamation for Confederate Memorial Day, during last nights’ council meeting. He also said he wasn’t equating either of those celebrations with his Confederate Memorial Day. The state of Florida also considers Confederate Memorial Day a legal holiday.
