On Tuesday, Mayor Huq was moved to the ICU after he was “down with infection.”On July 29, Huq flew to the UK for family purposes. Amid rumours running high, the Dhaka North City Corporation said on Oct 31 that the mayor was getting better and was moved out of the ICU. In a statement, the mayor’s office dismissed online media reports and speculations on the social media over his condition as ‘baseless and misleading’. Rubana Huq also later took to the internet to brush aside media reports and speculations on her husband. He was elected Dhaka North City mayor on a ruling Awami League ticket in 2015.
