PETALING JAYA: Traffic police will issue the maximum RM300 fine for various offences during the Ops Selamat period, says Asst Comm Zulkefly Yahya. The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief said among the offences are speeding, beating the red light, using the emergency lane, overtaking at double lines and using mobile phones while driving. “If a summons is issued for any of these offences no discounts will be given. ACP Zulkefly advised motorists to abide by traffic regulations and exercise caution when driving during the festive period, especially during Ops Selamat, which is conducted from May 29 until June 12. Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador had previously said 4,500 personnel from the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department would be on duty throughout the campaign.
