Mr. Girner, 35, is a freelance comic book writer and editor based in Brooklyn. He is the son of Christiane M. Girner of Cologne, Germany, and the late Gerhard Girner. The couple met on OkCupid in May 2012, when their officiant, Mr. Arbona, made Ms Dwyer aware of Mr. Girner’s profile.
