Asked by a member of the public if nurses would see their pay rise after the crisis, Mr Hancock praised nurses and said he would look at the issue but failed to make any guarantees. He added: "We put up nurses’ pay last month, and in fact last year we had the fastest rise, the biggest rise in pay - especially for nurses who are starting their career and the lowest paid nurses, who got a very significant pay rise of over 15%. “So there has been a significant pay rise for nurses. "Despite recent announcements, there is still complete confusion about testing, with care homes telling MPs they have been unable to access tests.
