The prime minister has been mocked far and wide for an awkwardly delivered — to be charitable — answer to a reasonable question. Still, the boxed-water fumble wasn’t the worst thing the prime minister had to say this week. It was a provocative, reckless statement — and all the scarier because the prime minister seems to mean every word of it. The prime minister is calling on Andrew Scheer to condemn threats to national unity while threatening national unity with a preposterous talking point. So long as he’s doing that, he’s the guy playing cheap political stunts with national unity.
